April Athlete of the Month!

This month’s Athlete of the Month is super fun, always smiling and always cheering everyone on around her! Alisha came to MCCF a couple of years ago and has become a force to be reckoned with! From the early 5:30am crowd to the EWOD crowd, to the 5:30pm crowd, she does it all and don’t let that smile fool you, she’s a WOD-killa! We just love Alisha and have seen how hard she has been working so we all thought the honor should be her’s this month!

I asked Alisha to tell us a little about her experience at MCCF and this is what she had to say…

“I’m SO honored!!
I think it’s been a couple a years now since I first started. My friends Casey and Tony were telling me how awesome MCCF was. I was intrigued but also very intimidated. I knew I wasn’t very strong nor was I familiar with CrossFit. I was so scared my first class. I was nervous I’d have to quit mid wod and everyone would notice how completely ridiculous I looked. But I was totally wrong. It wasn’t like that at all. I was greeted by many friendly faces and welcoming coaches.
Before MCCF I never had the confidence to try half of what I can do now. I still can’t believe I tried the opens. They were extremely intimating to me. Just signing up was an achievement for sure. Of course I couldn’t do most of the movements but it didn’t matter. The encouragement from other mid coasters was incredible. I also enjoyed watching many others crush the wods. The energy during the open wods was thru the roof. It was amazing. I loved every second of it.
I have to admit that I check Wodify religiously until the wod is up. I need to know what crazy thing Is posted so I can stay up all night thinking about it and pray I don’t die during it haha. I love seeing cleans, deadlifts and pull ups in wods. There are so many movements I need improvement on. Even the ones I love, I want to improve and become stronger. I’m very grateful for any sort of criticism. It’s really important to me because those helpful tips will make my performance better. I also looove me an Ewod. Those long spicy ones when you’re not too sure if you’re going to make it thru but barely do. Thank you Elayne and the 6:30am crew for the butt kicking.
My favorite part of MCCF is that everyone wants to see you succeed. We all fail from time to time, but the positive energy is what drives us. Whether it be 5:30am (I love starting my day with those awesome/crazy people) or 5:30 pm, the box is so energetic. I love cheering others on and watching PRs get set. I definitely feel that awesome energy in return. I’m so inspired by everyone at the box. I’m fueled by all the hard work that surrounds me at MCCF. I’m very grateful for the coaches and all their time they put in to help us reach our goals. I’ve met many new people and created new friendships. Thank you to everyone who has helped me and given me that extra push. I’m so happy to be a part of the MCCF community! Many more years of happiness to come.”
