This months Athlete of the Month is one of the hardest working athletes I have seen in the almost 9 years we have been open. Not only will you see Gina here 6 days a week, you will find her at least 5 of those 6 days doing an extra hour after the 5:30am WOD working on something. Pistols, pullups, T2B, HSPU’s, etc….. Gina is patient and will do the required work, even during a WOD, until she get’s it right. These days, there are not too many WOD’s that she can not RX. Gina sets a great example of what putting in the time will accomplish and is a true inspiration!
I asked Gina about her journey at MCCF and here is what she had to say:
” Never in a million years would I have thought I would join Crossfit. I started through the Sound Runner core class that my running partner talked me into. The week after the classes ended I missed it. I was hooked! I had planned on joining with my running partner but then she wasn’t able to make the commitment so I was solo and SCARED. I had never lifted weights with barbells before. I have always loved to work out from the time I was little. I started with mousercise in front of the TV. Then I moved to exercise tapes and long distance running. But insanity and P 90X in the basement and long distance runs were getting monotonous. I started going to the 5:30 AM class and every morning I would be so nervous, I’d give myself a stomach ache. But my love of crossfit outweighed my insecurities. All my misconceptions about Crossfit have been shattered. I’ve tackled skills I never could have imagined in an atmosphere of support and encouragement. Now I wish I could go back and redo those stupid presidential PE classes in middle school (LOL). If there were ever a healthy addiction Crossfit is it!!”
AWESOME! Congratulations Gina we are so happy you are a part of MCCF!
