This month, we celebrate a member that we knew was pretty awesome from day one! Suzanne had been a member for about two weeks when we hosted a pretty big competition at our box. I remember her asking me what time it started and what the criteria was and then said “ok, I’ll see you Saturday”! And she did just that! Two weeks into CrossFit and this awesome lady was deep in competition! That was 5 years ago! (Picture of this day below)
I think the best way to describe Suzanne is a fearless, free spirit that can always make you smile! We have all noticed Suzanne stepping it up lately with some of her recent accomplishments being completing the full 12 week Hatch program and PR-ing, as well as completing 3-4 miles dragging a tire with Tony for his charity ALS WOD. Suzanne always comes in with a positive attitude that never quits and this is why she is this month’s honored athlete.
Here is what Suzanne had to say about her journey at MCCF….
“I’m a girl who likes her quotes. A favorite is “Dead last is greater than did not finish which trumps did not start”.
I started Crossfit 5 years ago after hearing Chris Mada be one of those “crazy Crossfit people” who talked about it non stop. 😊 He convinced me to give it a shot and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t intimidate me at first! I was always last on the whiteboard but I loved the whole vibe of Crossfit, the new challenges, and most of all the unwavering support and encouragement.
Another quote, “Slow and steady wins the race” also applies. Anyone who has ever WOD-ed with me knows I’m a cautious Crossfitter but I will say that in the past year the PR’s have been adding up so it truly shows that Crossfit benefits every type of athlete out there. If I can do it anyone can!
And lastly, and in my opinion, most importantly, the number one reason I love MCCF is the people. I have met so many amazing, inspiring and supportive people at MCCF from all walks of life. Many of which I consider to be some of my closest friends that I can’t imagine my life without now. So my last quote is “Find your tribe. Love them hard”. I did. And I do. Thank you MCCF! ❤️”
This tribe loves you right back! Congratulations Suzanne, you are the Athlete of the Month!
