July’s Athlete of the Month is our ever smiling, wod crushing Liz Lynde who embodies what a Crossfit athlete should aspire to be positive, hardworking and humble. Here is a little about Liz.
Liz grew up active but says she was never the typical “athlete” dabbling in horseback riding, Tae Kwon Do, and field hockey in high school. Liz stated “I ran a 10+ minute mile, never could do a pull up, and never touched a barbell”. While in college and living at home Liz was looking for a way to get in shape and meet new people since all her my friends were off at college. On how she found Crossfit “Amelia Barrezueta was living in Georgia at the time and posted a before and after picture online and she looked amazing (and still does!) and she said it was thanks to Crossfit, so I Googled the closest Crossfit box and emailed Elayne to schedule an on ramp session” the rest is history. Over two years later Liz says it is the best thing she has ever done, “I surprise myself every day with what my body is capable of and how far I can push myself”.
Liz also said “As a full time dental hygiene student working part time to make ends meet, Crossfit is my top priority to keep me sane in such a stressful time in my life. I regularly am found at the box at least 4x a week not only to get a good workout in, but also to see all the amazing people at Midcoast! My hope to make friends has turned into family members, people who work hard and value their health and well-being. I cannot say enough how much I love my Crossfit family. They are the most inspirational, loving, compassionate people I have ever met and I am blessed to have them all in my life”.
Thank you Liz and its a pleasure to have you as a part of the family!
