‘Tis the Season to be Giving

Hey guys!

It is that time of year again, the time that we show just how thankful and giving we are. Before I tell you all about the charity we are donating to for the holidays this year, I want to talk first about the fun idea we came up with for the MCCF Christmas tree!

We have a tree with no ornaments on it! Poor Christmas Tree looks like Charlie Brown’s….so this is where we all come in! We want every member to bring in an ornament! JUST ONE PER PERSON!!!!

The ornament can be beautiful, silly, homemade, new or something you already own. There is no theme, just something that you want to hang on the tree. So if you’ve got one, bring it and if your like Maggie, get out your glitter and glue gun and have some FUN!!!!

This year we are doing a toy drive for the Connecticut Children’s Hospital Patients. We thought that helping bring a smile to a child’s face that is going through a tough time would be the best feeling in the world! I have copied and pasted the info that we need to know below (courtesy of connecticutchildrens.org).

If you have any questions you can ask me (Elayne) or Chris Cirilli who was kind enough to find out about this wonderful charity for us!

Thank you all for your kindness and loving spirit!

DONATIONS AT MCCF MUST BE MADE BY DECEMBER 20th!

Donate Toys

Donated toys help make every child’s visit to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center as comforting and enjoyable as possible. Throughout the year, we gratefully accept toy donations for children of all ages, which we distribute to patients around the holidays and at different times of the year.

Individuals and organizations interested in conducting a toy drive are asked to adhere to some basic guidelines. We request that donated toys:

  • Are new and not gift-wrapped
  • Are appropriate for hospitalized infants, children, adolescents or teenagers (toy guns and other weapons are not appropriate)
  • Do not pose a safety hazard, such as those with sharp edges or small, removable or easily breakable parts

For our patients’ safety, we are unable to accept used toys or stuffed animals.

For your convenience, please see our list of suggested items appropriate for children of all ages.

We appreciate toy donations well in advance of the holidays. Patient entertainment, Santa’s visit, carolers and gift distributions keep Connecticut Children’s very busy in the final weeks of the year. November and early December are ideal for receiving holiday gift contributions.
